Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he lost control at corner four during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed corner approaching the final bend on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
